If you’ve got a spare hour or two and want to earn the love of your Municipal Liaisons, why not mosey on over to the downloadable fliers page on the NaNoWriMo website, copy off a few, and post them up around your area? Kat and I can spread the word through downtown Sacramento but we’re only two people. The more fliers that get put up in our region, the better. More fliers = more participants, and if we get enough participants we can move forward with our plan to annex the East Bay region.

And as always, thanks for your ongoing support.

The SacNano/WordForge retreat was a success! Thanks very much to Dale Emery (aka Bleen Booley on the Nano forums) for hosting it at his dome house in the remote, GPS-defying reaches of Shingle Springs. You can see pictures from the retreat here. We’re thinking of hosting another one in the fall (probably early to mid October), but we may have to find a new location. Feel free to submit ideas, but remember that the venue has to be free. We don’t want people to have to pay money to attend the retreat.

In other news, don’t forget that Richard is hosting First Friday write-ins at his house every month. The next one is May 2. The fun begins at 7:00, and Richard provides coffee.

Remember also that there are various ways for writers in the SacNano group to connect with each other. We have a mailing list hosted with Yahoo Groups, and, of course, our forum, Muffie Pump and Platymanagoat. And if you’re interested in joining a local writers’ group, WordForge Sacramento is always willing to take on newcomers

Hm. I guess that’s all I’ve got for now. I’m going to cross-post this item to the NaNo forum.

Happy writing!

The first of the First Friday Write Ins was pretty well attended. Well, actually, there were only four of us there. But we had a good time, and there was some good conversation, and we actually got a good amount of writing done. Next time, I’ll break out my robot penguin to help keep time for some good old fashioned word wars.

There will be no First Friday Night write in in April, because that’s the weekend of the first annual San Nano Retreat. We’re still working on what that will entail, what we will be doing and so on. Right now it looks like we’ll be setting the agenda there. As you may already know, Dale has graciously offered to let us use a property that he owns up in Shingle Springs. Please let us know if you plan to attend. It looks like we’ll start on Friday night and run through Saturday evening.

First Friday Write Ins will resume at my house on the first Friday of May, which is May 2. Again it’s at 7:00. I’ll provide coffee from Starbucks but any food you want you’ll have to bring yourself.

Have fun and keep flailing at the keyboard!
